Java developers will use the Java programming language to create both business and web applications. Main duties include fine-tuning and optimizing applications, implementing and maintaining Java applications, providing technical support and answering any infrastructure questions.
Java programmers are expected to have at least an Associate’s degree as well as work experience. For more skilled positions, some employers ask for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. The Bureau of Labor estimates that employment opportunities for general software developers will increase by a faster than average 25% by 2026.
