Job Description
Role Summary:Responsible for advanced Power Systems Application software development, testing, integration and tuning of assigned functions to meet corporate project/product commitments. The projects include developing Power system features for Electric Utilities or ISOs (Independent System Operators) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs).
Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for programming a feature and or a small feature set. Contributes to the team and works with direction from Senior Team Members or management, beginning to work independently).
Act as a member in Software Center of Excellence, representing the face of high quality design and development practices. Implement new functionalities in power system application software which includes EMS (Energy Management System) and DTS (Dispatcher Training Simulator) applications.
Provide maintenance of power systems application functionality; including code fixes, documentation, and user interfaces.
Collaborate with system/project engineers, front-end developers and EMS application developers to implement solutions that are aligned with product direction.
Limited direct customer interaction.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with thesis or related work in power systems. No experience required.
Eligibility Requirements:
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills
Desired Characteristics:
Basic experience in software design, development and/or integration.
programming experience in C++ and/or Java and familiarity with basic database operations.
Exposure to optimization techniques and tools.
Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Some work or academic experience in power systems.
Experience with power systems and/or energy management systems.
Experience with software development.
