Play was founded by four partners: Michael Ferdman, JoonYong Park, Eric Eng and Dan LaCivita, who all come from different backgrounds and disciplines. We all worked together for over 15 years at design and technology agency, Firstborn, which was founded by Michael in 1997. After creating hundreds of digital experiences for clients, we shifted our focus to rethinking how teams could design and build digital products, in search of a better way.

Along with the help of the great team at Firstborn, we helped build Firstborn into one of the most awarded and respected design and technology agencies in the world where we were recognized with prestigious awards such as Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies (2x), Advertising Age’s Agency A List and Crain’s Best Places to Work in New York City (4x).

While having already built and grown a successful business, we were ready for a new challenge and began working on Play last year. We're now in Private Beta, looking to add the a select group of people to our team!

We believe Play will transform the way teams design and build digital products. We're on a mission to not build just another "design tool," but create a new paradigm that empowers product teams to create more thoughtful and impactful digital products. Play transforms the traditional design and development process by empowering teams to collaboratively design and build mobile products, without writing code—directly from their mobile device.
