Anna and Andrew founded the company in 2008, working on a website called . Anna was previously working as a software engineer at Google, and Andrew was doing marketing for a startup called SureLogic.
In 2009, the company started building Gaia GPS for the new iPhone platform. Gaia GPS has become the goto app for backpackers and other hardcore outdoor adventurers and professionals. Anna built the original back-end, and Andrew did the front-end work, and today work as part of a larger development team.
The company has no VC funding, employs a full time team of six, a cadre of contractors, and is hiring two full-time developers in Q1 2016. The team work remotely around the US, and the company has strong user, revenue, and profit growth.
