Way back in 1999, Dan Aton founded XOS Technologies and sprang into motion a series of events that would eventually lead to the founding of 8K Solutions in 2014. At XOS, Dan was a pioneer in sports video technology with audio/visual systems design and integration. The XOS empire in collegiate and professional sports grew rapidly throughout the early 2000s and acquired Pinnacle Sports and Collegiate Images among other companies. As XOS grew, so did its direction, and it was not long until Dan decided to leave XOS and found a new company called 8K Solutions.
Inspired by a Notre Dame student named Declan Sullivan, who tragically lost his life in 2010 when the aerial lift he was filming football practice from collapsed, Dan envisioned a product that would allow football video staff to film practice at the desired height but keeping the operators safely on the ground. Thus, the mastRcam Mobile was born. A couple years later, the Lyvve Coach was introduced as a mobile outdoor LED board that coaches can use to review video right on the field instead of having to wait for practice to end, cut up the video, and then review in a meeting room. This turned out to be a very practical process improvement for coaches.
8K Solutions continues to innovate with new products such as the Walk Through Wall – a multiple edge-blended projector setup where coaches can show video in large formats up to 40’ x 9’ that allows their players to interact, judge spacing and recognition from life size video and playbooks. 8K’s internally developed 3D Playbook is a complementary software application that allows coaches to draw up their own plays and convert them into 3D models for use on the Walk-Through Wall.
Our vision at 8K Solutions is to leverage our decades of sport technology experience to provide innovative products and superior service to professional and collegiate sports organizations.
