Security Engineers are tasked with targeting the origins of malicious acts and disruptions through various security measures. The profession typically intertwines with other fields, such as psychology, social science, math and physics. Cryptography is one of the most well-known forms of security engineering, in addition to sub-fields like information security, physical security and technical surveillance counter-measures. The objective of a Security Engineer role is to use various web applications to measure security objectives. This is done through security testing, tuning, modeling and deployment review. Daily tasks may involve performing vulnerability assessments, reviewing security alerts, automating security controls and reviewing infrastructure stacks. A bachelor's or master's degree is often required, as well as familiarity and experience with compliance standards, handling many different projects and computer scripting languages, such as Python, Ruby and Node.js.
