QA Engineers are hired by companies in order to thoroughly test products so that they meet company standards in terms of quality before it goes to market. In order to accomplish this task, QA Engineers must gather and analyze large amounts of data about a product while the same time creating automated functional load tests. As one might expect because of all of this, this is a highly technical and detail-oriented position.
When it comes to job requirements, QA Engineers need to have at least a four-year undergraduate degree in computer science or a similar field where programming is a major aspect such as physics or mathematics. Many companies, however, will also require a master's degree as well. In addition to studies, QA Engineers need to be fluent in industry-standard languages such as Java, as well as have a firm grasp on Linux.
