Product Designers work for an array of manufacturers and service providers such as design and engineering firms. They use their creative skills as part of a team and will collaborate with engineers, product managers, researchers and other designers on projects. They might also develop storyboards, mocks or prototypes as well as interact with customers to gather information about their experience with the product or to conduct usability tests.
Qualifications for Product Designers will vary by employer. However, many in this profession have a bachelor of science degree in a scientific or technical field such as engineering or industrial/product design. Experience working with and a knowledge of prototyping tools, user flows and UI/UX interaction is also important to many employers.
