Embedded Engineers create optimized software systems. They are responsible for designing, developing, coding, testing and debugging the software. Embedded Software Engineers have to pay closer attention to reliability and safety than ordinary desktop application developers because embedded systems can run systems that lives depend on such as a braking system for a car. They also have to take into consideration real-time constraints in regards as to how fast the system responds to an event or command. Communications cannot be lost and latencies have to be at a minimal level. Embedded Software Engineers should have a Bachelor of Science in either computer science or engineering and most employers also asked for experience in troubleshooting and hands-on development. Companies that employ Embedded Engineers include Lockheed Martin, Apple, Google, Codeforce 360 and Garmin.
